Metin Taskin shortlisted for the WBA Industry Awards 2022 as CTO of the Year

News

We are pleased to announce that Metin Taskin, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Airties, has been shortlisted for the WBA Industry Awards as CTO of the Year.

Metin Taskin began his career working as a research engineer at the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK). From there, his career continued in the United States: first at Hittite Microwave Corporation in Boston, MA, designing radar and microwave communications systems, and later at Cisco Systems in San José, CA. Working initially on the development of fixed access wireless devices at the Wireless Access Business Unit, Metin later moved to the Wireless Networking Business Unit of Cisco as a system architect and led a team of 25 engineers that developed BR1410, an IEEE 802.11a compliant Wireless Outdoor Bridge. Metin proudly received the “Cisco Innovator” award for his success in the design and development of this product.

In 2004, Metin co-founded Airties as the company’s Chief Technology Officer and has been at the forefront of the Wi-Fi revolution for nearly twenty years. Early on, Metin had a clear vision for the Internet of the future and centrality of Wi-Fi within it. He foresaw that Wi-Fi Mesh had significant application and benefits for home environments. He helped pioneer the technology and drive market awareness of the need for Managed home Wi-Fi, leading to its massive adoption by broadband operators around the globe.

News

We are delighted to announce that Airties’ Wi-Fi EasyMesh Controller Software RDK-B Integration has been honored by 2022 Diamond Technology Reviews in the “Wi-Fi Solutions” category.

RDK is an open source software platform, deployed on more than 80 million devices worldwide, that standardizes core functions and telemetry used in broadband, video, and IoT connected devices. For broadband devices specifically, RDK-B provides a common platform across broadband access technologies including DOCSIS, GPON, and DSL, with functionality such as routing, Wi-Fi, diagnostics, IoT support, and more.

By further integrating Wi-Fi EasyMesh, developed through Wi-Fi Alliance®, as a standardized communication layer for Wi-Fi gateways and extenders, operators can spend less time on platform integration efforts across OEMs and chipsets, and more time developing value-added managed Wi-Fi services to their subscribers. Airties’ RDK-B component contribution will enable this kind of operator-grade experience. Vendors and operators across the RDK community are now free to deploy their own products using this contributed Wi-Fi EasyMesh controller. Airties will also maintain the component code contribution and future revisions to support the RDK community.
